Triple IDEA (3IDEA) works in a similar way to 3DES, but used the IDEA algorithm three times instead of the DES algorithm three times:
Since IDEA is as secure as 3DES, 3IDEA is very secure indeed - but since the extra security comes with a corresponding lack of speed, there is perhaps little point in using it until IDEA appears to be threatened by much faster computing facilities trying to break it.
